"Out of the hands of our teachers come our doctors, lawyers, carpenters,
engineers and every other career."
Every child is different, and as such, it would be remiss of me as an educator to overlook this simple, yet profound and extremely true statement. Consequently, as an educator, it is vital to cater to the needs of our diverse asset: Our students! Our Future! This means that we cannot do business as normal.
My role as an educator is to encourage and mold students, spark innovation, ignite creativity, and create an atmosphere that builds confidence and independence.
Having been enrolled in the course JBTE/LIT 102, Promoting Writing in Primary Grades, I feel fired up to impart and implement the techniques, strategies, knowledge and skills to my students.

"Whether you think you can, or you think you can't- you're right."
~Henry Ford
As the First runner-up for the 2014 Mr. & Ms. Scotia Bank Talented Teen Pageant, its theme that year has always stuck with me- 'Turning Dreams Into Reality.'
In the pageant, I was urged to say that when I grow up I would like to become the first female chief minister of Anguilla. However, that couldn't be further from the truth. In this day and age, you could never put Breanna and politics in the same sentence. What I really aspired to become was a teacher. My love for children and having the opportunity to transform and mold their minds whilst allowing them to have the most fun on this memorable educational journey are just a few things that I hope students experience as I leave my mark on them.
I was coaxed into pretending to be something I am not and that is something I will protect my students from. Their individuality and uniqueness are what makes them special and that is something that should be protected at all costs.

"Promises are the uniquely human way of ordering the future, making it predictable and reliable to the extent that this is humanly possible.” - Hannah Arent
Over twenty years ago, I promised myself that one day I must embark on teaching as a career. Today, that promise is fulfilled. Day-by-day teaching positively impacts my life and the life of my students. I possess an innate skill in teaching and a passion to do so. It holds a high priority in my life after my passion for Christ and family.
Listening and understanding our students and realizing that gap that needs to be filled while seeing them develop in their education motivates me daily as a teacher. As such, it is a privilege to have the opportunity to teach and awaken values within them that they could be positive conscientious citizens in our society, hence, be a blessing to others they encounter.
Teacher’s training has often challenged me but it has also encouraged, compelled and transformed me to being an effective teacher - in the present and for the future. Therefore, the students I encounter also have a chance at a better future. After all, that is my objective as I teach, remembering that these same children are our future.
